Your Security
|
Your security is important to Robert I. Merrill. We are here to assist you in every way in order for your facility to have the highest security possible. Here are a few suggestions for business access control:
-
Install deadbolt locks or other access control system on office doors leading to hallways and other public areas.
-
Those responible should issue and control keys, do semi-annual inventories, and have locks changed when keys are missing.
- Often security improves if offices are cleaned during the day.
- Make sure all employees know your security system.
- Make certain that after hours employees do not have access to security alarms or authorization to turn them on or off.
- Do not allow visitors access to secure areas.
- Generally, do not allow persons visiting one office to have access to other offices or areas.
- Immediately confront persons who appear unannounced in your work area or who say they "opened the wrong door" or "were looking for another office."
- Do not admit unexpected repairmen or deliverymen.
- Remind employees to be aware of any unusual or suspicious activity, e.g., occupied vehicles in unusual locations, persons photographing your facility, telephone calls seeking suspicious information, etc.
- Challenge any unfamiliar persons in or near your work areas. If they do not appear threatening, talk to them about what they are doing, who they work for, what their name is, etc.
- Ensure that all security and video systems are operating and in good working order.
- Consider having security personnel or CCTV in areas of high visibility and/or public access, e.g., public entrances, front desk areas, public-gathering points, etc.
- Monitor public parking lots and vehicles.
- Check with Robert I. Merrill for information on available access control systems and high security services.
