Job Title: Commercial Wood Door Finisher

Robert I. Merrill is seeking a skilled and experienced Door Finisher to join our growing team in our Wood Door Division. We are looking for someone with strong wood finishing experience who can take the lead in running the finishing department, maintaining quality standards, and keeping production moving efficiently. Experience with veneer staining and matching custom finishes is highly preferred.

As a Door Finisher, you will be responsible for applying finishes to wood doors, including clear coating, staining, and matching specified finishes to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Apply finishes to wood doors according to specified requirements
• Match existing finishes to ensure consistency and quality
• Stain and finish veneer doors to achieve the desired appearance
• Prepare surfaces for finishing by sanding, staining, sealing, and clear coating
• Inspect finished doors for quality and make any necessary touch-ups
• Take the lead in organizing and running daily finishing operations
• Help maintain workflow, quality standards, and production schedules
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines for handling finishes and chemicals

Requirements:

• Previous experience in wood finishing is required
• Experience with veneer staining and matching finishes is strongly preferred
• Knowledge of different types of wood finishes, stains, and techniques
• Ability to accurately match specified finishes and colors
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and lead finishing operations
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy doors
• Knowledge of safety protocols for handling finishes and chemicals
